WHAT IS ACTINIC KERATOSIS?
Actinic Keratosis (also known as Solar Keratosis) is a rough, scaly patch or a bump on the skin, but Actinic Keratosis removal is an option and a resource for those affected.
Actinic Keratosis is a common skincare condition that affects a lot of people and is caused by Ultraviolet (UV) damage to their skin. This condition may develop into “squamous cell skin cancer”, and because of this the lesions are often called
“pre-cancerous”.
While they are not life-threatening, without Actinic Keratosis removal these conditions have the opportunity to turn into skin cancer.
WHAT DOES ACTINIC KERATOSIS LOOK LIKE?
Actinic Keratosis itself can appear in a variety of tones and appear lighter or darker. It can also have discoloration to it and can be tan, pink, red, or even a combination of these.
The intricate scale or crust of Actinic Keratosis may feel dry and rough and in some cases, it may even itch and have a prickly sensation or feel sore.
WHAT CAUSES ACTINIC KERATOSIS?
UV rays from tanning beds or the sun are the leading causes of Actinic Keratosis.
While Actinic Keratosis does not develop immediately, the long-term damage to the skin from the UV rays builds over time.
Even short-term exposure over a long period of time can build up and increase the risk of developing Actinic Keratosis.
WHERE CAN ACTINIC KERATOSIS APPEAR?
Actinic Keratosis is most likely to develop in areas exposed to the sun or UV rays.
This can include the areas such as the face, ears, scalp, neck, hands, arms, and even lips.
